Firethorne Kindles the
Spirit of Community Through Katy I.S.D. KEYS Program
Katy/Fulshear, TX -- Feb. 18, 2009. .
. . Katy/Fulshear master-designed community
Firethorne kindles the spirit of community
by providing KEYS (Keep Encouraging Youth
toward Success) adult role models and
student scholarships. Katy Independent
School District KEYS volunteers -- one
mentor per student one hour per week --
help motivate, encourage and inspire students
in the Katy/Fulshear area.
Firethorne, a contributor to KEYS Scholarships since the program’s
inception
in 2006, is helping underwrite the February 19 “Ties & Tiaras” benefit
dinner, (http://kisdwebs.katyisd.org/Communications/TiesandTiaras)
and
also has donated a $2,000 KEYS college scholarship.
“Because we have companies like Firethorne, the money goes directly
to the scholarships,” said Katy ISD Partners in Education Specialist
Martha Brown.
The benefit will be held from 6-8 p.m. at Aguave Road, 1010 FM 1463
in Katy with food provided by Hasta La Pasta. Tickets, $25 per person
in advance and $40 per person at the door, include hors d’oeuvres,
beverages and student entertainment. There will be a silent auction
of Katy ISD student artwork with all proceeds benefiting scholarships
for the 2009 KEYS graduating seniors (13 in 2009.) For “Ties & Tiaras” information
or reservations, go to http://kisdwebs.katyisd.org/Communications/TiesandTiaras.
Firethorne, a 1,400-acre residential
community in Katy/Fulshear, offers 150
acres of parks and recreational amenities,
12-acre lake with greenbelt, sports fields
and hike/bike trails. It’s
